How to Choose Travel Insurance for Bali: Free Quiz & Checklist

Choosing travel insurance for Bali can feel unnecessarily complicated. Every provider offers different limits, exclusions and optional extras, and the cheapest quote isn’t always the most suitable for your holiday. So I’ve created two free resources to make the comparison easier: a quick travel insurance quiz and a practical spreadsheet and checklist.

This guide is deliberately short. If you want to understand the different types of cover before comparing policies, start with my Bali travel insurance guide. Otherwise, use the two tools below to narrow down your options and make a more informed decision.

1. Take the free Bali travel insurance quiz

Not sure where to begin? The Bali Travel Insurance Quiz asks nine questions about your travel plans, activities and priorities, then suggests three insurers worth investigating. It’s a useful starting point, not a guarantee that a particular policy will cover your trip.

2. Compare policies with the free spreadsheet and checklist

Once you have a shortlist, use my Bali Travel Insurance Comparison Toolkit to compare the policies side by side. The downloadable-copy spreadsheet helps you record the things that matter: emergency medical treatment, evacuation, cancellation, baggage, excesses, activities and exclusions. The accompanying checklist is designed to help you spot questions you might otherwise forget to ask.

Open the spreadsheet using the button below and make your own copy so you can fill it out without editing the master version.

A few things to check before buying

A policy that suits a family holiday may not suit someone planning to ride a scooter, go diving or travel with a pre-existing medical condition. Check eligibility for your country of residence, read the policy wording and any product disclosure statement, and confirm the conditions for your specific activities. Pay particular attention to motorcycle licensing and helmet requirements, medical exclusions, benefit limits and what happens if your travel plans change.

For more context, read my full Bali travel insurance guide. If you’re comparing medical cover, you might also find my Bali Belly guide useful. You can find more free planning tools on the Bali resources page.

Important: These free resources are for general information and comparison only. They are not personal financial advice, and quiz results are not policy recommendations or confirmations of cover. Always check current policy documents, exclusions, eligibility and terms directly with the insurer before purchasing.

  • Have you sorted out your travel insurance?

Bali is incredible, but unexpected illness, scooter accidents, cancelled flights and lost luggage can get expensive fast. Travel insurance is one of those things I genuinely wouldn’t come to Bali without.
